The Model

The BR 81 was manufactured as the finest brass handicraft model with high-quality detailing. With the faithful livery and the multi-colored driver's cab, the model is as accurate as possible. Speed shield, boiler factory sign, and boiler examination plate on the rear of the boiler were mounted. Due to the detachable roof, all cab details are particularly easy to see.

The smoke chamber door can be opened. Behind it are the steam generator and the locomotive decoder. The driver's doors, the sand dome as well as the water box lids, and the toolbox flaps below the cab can be opened. On the models of epoch 3, the frame is forward extended. The replacement of restrings with weldshashas also implemented.

• Dynamic Smoke

The BR 81 is already equipped with the latest version of our globally unique Dynamic Smoke. As soon as you turn on the function key to the sound, the smoke developer is put into operation. A joint shutdown of the evaporation and cylinder steam is provided by a switch behind the smoke chamber door.

• Smoke developer

With proper treatment, the smoke developer is maintenance-free. The volume of smoke has been adjusted as realistically and as measured as possible, so that operation in closed rooms is also possible without the smoke cloud acting overlaid. 

p.s. Avoid overfilling. On the supplied pipette you will find for orientation a scale. 

• The motor switch:

The motor switch is located behind the water box flap. This allows you to turn off the motor.

• The detachable cab roof:

The cab roof is removable. For this purpose, two magnets are attached in the front area of the cab (direction standing boiler). In the rear area (direction coal bunker) a hook is attached. Therefore the cab roof is first gently raised in the front area and slanted forward (direction boiler) from the hook.

About BR 81

Class 81 was delivered in 1927 in a quantity of 10 pieces by the company Hanomag. It was designed for medium to heavy shunting. Due to the Second World War, a planned subsequent order of 60 copies was no longer available. The locomotives of the BR 81 proved themselves very well in the shunting service and were used by the Deutsche Bundesbahn until 1963. A single specimen, the 81 004, survived to this day and is located in the engine shed of Naumburg.
